Welcome to the Dark Side, Dr. Crawford....

Local Libertarian Candidates, party members and media lit up the internet and cell phone towers tonight after the YLNI Candidate Forum in efforts to reach Party Chair Jennifer Jeffrey. The intense search went on late into the night for an explanation into current City Councilman Dr. John Crawford's statement to the large crowd that he was "a social Libertarian".

Party members were confused as to why Jeffrey had not told them she had nominated him for the seat and wondered who else may show up next to beg for a slot on their ticket.

Jeffrey was found talking with other Council members late this evening, urging them to join the movement. Jeffrey declined to comment on the workings of the deal. Instead she issued this message: "Welcome to the dark side, Mr. Crawford. We have some serious work to do on your platform."

Stay tuned for continuing developments.

I was really pleased with the event last night. It definitely helped me make some decisions on a few candidates that I wouldn't have made otherwise. There are a couple of Libertarian candidates that I am quite impressed with. So far, my voting is about 2/5 Republican, 2/5 Democrat, and 1/5 Libertarian.

Thanks,
DaveC

The idea that Crawford is a social libertarian is laughable. In my opinion, no other member of City Council has pushed for more government, more regulations, and more governmental intrusion into the lives of Fort Wayne citizens.

What did SYLVESTER!! have to say about this?

Thank you Dave for your great comments and banter last night, as well.

And for all of you who came out to learn what these hard working people are trying to do to help the City of Fort Wayne. Not everyone shares the same idea of what vehicle it will take to get there.

I worked on this project since May, and tried very very diligently to have to come away as non-partisan and an informative event. There were ups and downs of last night, but mostly up from what I have been hearing.

The committee who put this on was a mix of representative from each party and, if nothing else, at least we got information to you, the voter.

I heard very positive comments as well. The strongest "criticism" that I heard was from a colleague who expressed disappointment that such a good event was held in a small venue - in his opinion it should have been at the Coliseum with everyone in Fort Wayne in attendance "because the format and information were so good." He is a bit of an idealist, at least as far as local politics is concerned.

I think it's great you will be getting the tape shown on cable access so that more people will be able to watch.

As a candidate, I really appreciate all the work that the committee members put into the event. It showed.

i don't think it's a good idea to refer to our cause as the "dark side". People will think that you resolve internal party disputes by choking people with your mind.

Give me a break.

You think that statement is bad by Jennifer? How about damaging the party with your What about Bob fiasco?

I was simply making a joke, as was Jen. It was Robert Morris, a Republican, who purchased signs that said "What about Bob?"
