Steve Shine and The Allen County GOP held a large "ethics seminar" this year to help ensure that our local elected officials behave in an "ethical" manner.
It seems that The Indiana State Police are investigating a 911 call from Steve Shine's house last week.
I have NO IDEA what is going on with this...

A lot of people have asked me what I think about corruption in the Republican Party in the last few months. Many are surprised by my answer.
There are corrupt Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, Evangelicals, Priests, Nuns, lawyers, accountants, police officers, etc. There are extremely honest Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, Evangelicals, Priests, Nuns, lawyers, accountants, police officers, etc.
I think that power corrupts. The Republican Party has had a lot of power recently and some of their members have behaved in a very corrupt manner.
The 2006 Election removed many of them from power. That is what is supposed to happen.
The ONLY way to fix this is to make government as transparent as possible. Democrats and Republicans have fought this for years and years. Citizens need to do EVERYTHING they can to ensure our government is transparent.
In the past Reporters could be counted on to dig for corruption and to reveal corruption to the voters. Reporters as a whole are doing less of this in the last few years and that is too bad. Bloggers have taken a very active role in this function in the last couple of years.
I think that the rampant Republican corruption in the last few years has hurt The Republican Party and that you will see fewer and fewer Republicans claim to be part of a Party that has more morals and values then those members of other political Parties.
I think EVERY corrupt official should be "booted" out of office.
I also think that we need term limits!
Mike Sylvester

Sorry the implication that a 911
call made at Steve Shine's home should not constitute an investigation in proportions you all describe across the FW blogshere. I'm not protecting him. In fact, I find him extremely arrogant and he could be humbled down a knotch. However,
a 911 call on Liberty Mills Road could be anything from a false security alarm going off, or a
driver off the road hitting a deer.
I think you all are blowing smoke up your arses.
Believe me theirs no juice here.
Yes...State Police are closer than
Allen or City officials. So who
do you think responds first?
Think.
I am not blowing smoke ANYWHERE...
In fact in my post I say that I "I have NO IDEA what is going on with this..."
Mike Sylvester
Bobett,
It's not the fact that it's just a 911 call. It's WHAT the 911 call was about that is at issue. Those privy to the situation seem to suggest this is information the general public deserves to hear.
I heard Kevin Knuth talk about this at the post-election meeting last Saturday and I've refrained from commenting. I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop on this one and I'm sure it will any day now.
Although, I have no first hand knowledge about ANYTHING on the 911 tapes I must say I would not be surprised at the allegations that are being thrown about. The Republican party has become "ethically-challenged" to say the least. In my opinion, this usually stems from leadership...
So Jeff,
What was said on the 911 call?
Hello... Was there a fire?
Who was dispatched? Oh yes, I know the state police went over and who else? Who is closest in that neck of the woods?
What Jeff and then what happened?
I can not hear you. Speak louder
and fill in the details so we all understand. OK. I can not hear you. There must be a bad connection. Call me back with the
details. Thanks
I can comment on this-
The Allen Count Police were dispatched initially.
However, before they arrived on scene, the Sheriff felt it more politically prudent to distance his department from this issue, and sent in the State Police.
Bobett- if it were a false security alarm or a driving off the road hitting a dear- why would they claim the "matter is under investigation" and refuse to release the 911 tape?
So, someone from the media gave up the story and instead of publishing it gave it to Kevin "FOIA" Knuth? I find that odd. If it's such a big story why would MSM give it away instead of running with it?
Steve's had issues with his "adult" son, it could simply be that issue again.
Dan Turkette:
My guess is "the adult son as well..."
Fort Wayne is a small town and has a strong "good old boy" network.
The fact that the Allen County Sheriff immediately turned it over to the Indiana State Police is a GREAT sign and is something the Allen County Sheriff's department should be commended for...
I REALLY HAVE NO IDEA if there is anything to this or not.
As I have gotten older I have gotten a lot more cynnical. Our justice system favors those with a lot of money and lawyers...
Think about OJ for a moment...
Lets hope that everyone is ok and that justice prevails...
Mike Sylvester
If it were indeed an emergency, then the nearest police officer should have responded. It should not have mattered if the officer came from the city, county, or state. If someone at Mr. Shine's house is in trouble, the emergency at hand takes far more precedence than politics.
On the other hand, if it were not an emergency, then 911 should not have been dialed.
I think that in some areas in this country, the majority of voters are corrupt themselves. They vote for the politician who offers the most unearned goodies.
This is why I am against term limits. One great thing about democracy is that idiots get exactly the kind of government they deserve.
Bobett,
I don't know what was said on the 911 tapes and I don't think anyone else knows for sure. There seems to be some speculation about the gist of the phone call and this speculation involves drugs - you can read Kevin Knuth's comments here (which is who I heard this story from).
Currently the situation is under investigation and the tapes are not being released. I imagine there hasn't been any MSM coverage on this because there is no corroborating evidence w/o those tapes.
I think this situation will come to a head soon...
Jeff sez "I think this situation will come to a head soon"....how soon would that be?
