Homicides in Allen County

According to the Journal Gazette homicides fell to a 10 year low in Allen County this year. There have been 18 homicides this year. There were 31 homicides last year.

Sometimes I think I focus on too many negative things on my blog.

I am glad that the homicides in Allen County dropped to 18. This is good news.

The full story can be found at the Jounral Gazette:

I agree with both your assertions. ;-)

Its next to impossible to have a homicide rate of zero in a big city. Many homicides in the US are drug related. So as long as you and your friends are stupid enough to do drugs in the one Western democracy that is still trying to stamp them out, your odds of getting murdered by a non-family member are very slim!

One more reason to live in Fort Wayne

Not to be a wet blanket on this, but although 19 homicides (final figure for 2006) IS notewworthy, compared to 1997, someone should print how many TOTAL SHOOTINGS Fort Wayne experienced for 2006.

I'd wager THAT figure has gone up dramatically and would surprise many.

Simply because you have a bunch of mooks suffering from poor marksmanship, that's not a really good reason to "pop the cork" just yet.
ALL the 2006 homicides happened inside Fort Wayne city limits (mostly on the SOUTH side). SO as long as you live where it doesn't affect're fine and dandy.

Let's get all the facts first...THEN breathe that collective sigh of "relief" we need all too badly.
