Pat White and the Fort Wayne Mayor's race

I am a regular listener of the Pat White Show and I am a fairly regular caller.

Last week Pat interviewed three of the Republican Mayoral candidates. He interviewed Ivan Hood, Matt Kelty, and Nelson Peters.

Pat was very nice to Ivan Hood and took it pretty easy on Ivan.

Pat attacked Matt and asked Matt a lot of difficult questions. It was very apparent listening to Pat's interview that he does not care for Matt Kelty.

Pat was very nice to Nelson Peters and asked him fairly easy questions.

Several people in the "blogosphere" have stated that Pat White is not being fair... I do not understand that comment.

Pat White is a talk show host. Pat White does not have to be fair. After listening to the interviews it is obvious that Pat White is a Nelson Peters supporter and that Pat White did what he could on the radio to help Nelson Peters.

Such is life. Pat White can support whoever he wants to, he is a talk show host!

I was 99% sure that Pat White would support Nelson Peters. It turns out that I was right.

It is not a big deal, move on...

I think Matt Kelty is going to win the Primary on Tuesday by 3 points. I truly think he has run a much better campaign and that he has motivated a fair number of Republican Primary voters.

I like it when Pat refers to the president of Venezuela as "Caesar Chavez." I'm still not sure if Pat thinks the Venezuelan chief-executive is a boxer or a deceased migrant-worker activist.

That's odd. People who pretend to be fair, and independent, such as Indiana Pundit for example, are actually Kelty campaign workers. Yet they complain about Pat White not being fair.

What a hoot!

Mike - Thanks for switching the comments window! It's much more user-friendly. =)

I heard today that Nelson was drafted by the Wizards!

Whoops, he just held a press conference there once....but he did "walk-on" the field.

Why do people assume that Pat White or anyone on TV/Radio doesn't have a personal agenda or favorites like everyone else in the country?

If anyone is still unsure please send me an email and I will tell you who to vote for...........

Many journalists still make a good faith effort to be objective, but some bias may be evident in their reporting. Others try to disguise their propaganda as "fair and balanced". At least Pat White doesn't try to pass his show off as objective.

For decades, most towns in the US had a morning and an evening paper. There was often an understanding that one was liberal and the other was conservative. Fort Wayne is one of the last cities where this is still the case, though I'm starting to have doubts that we still have a conservative paper.

So that would make the JG "liberal." The same paper that prints columns by Cal Thomas, Kathleen Parker, and Victor Davis Hanson. Sorry Robert, but when I read a supposedly "liberal" publication I don't want to have to wade through 3 pages of right-wing nonsense.

Nice try though.

Don't the Washington Post and New York Times also occassionally print articles from conservative columnists? I assume that's because they have to give some semblance of being legitimate news and not the fake news, like CBS.

I don't consider WaPo a liberal publication either. Just because the local Reagan cult thinks so it doesn't make it true.

Wow. That's just - just -just wrong. Even they have admitted it:

The elephant in the newsroom is our narrowness. Too often, we wear liberalism on our sleeve and are intolerant of other lifestyles and opinions....We’re not very subtle about it at this paper: If you work here, you must be one of us. You must be liberal, progressive, a Democrat. I’ve been in communal gatherings in The Post, watching election returns, and have been flabbergasted to see my colleagues cheer unabashedly for the Democrats.”

Of course the JG is liberal. If you read it you would realize just how liberal it is.

I tend to think that Americans should consume both liberal and conservative media and make their own decisions.

I read the JG and The New York Times to hear from the liberals and I listen to talk radio and visit conservative blogs to monitor the conservative side.

Then I make my own decision...

Ollie North once said that every morning he read the Bible and the Washington Post, so that he could know what both sides were up to.

Craig, I have never heard Pat White or his show, but I would assume he refers to the Venezuelan dictator as "Ceasar Chavez" to be facetious.

And Mike is right (correct I should say) you should actually read the paper. Granted, it's not exactly "The Marxist Daily" but it is of a liberal slant.

Ah yes, Pat White ... that shrill voice, frequently going into the falsetto range ... the high-speed delivery ... the way you can tell he thinks he really delivered a zinger: he repeats it six or seven times consecutively. A real old-style radio silly-man.

More power to you, you regular listeners. You're better men than I ... or, at least, you've got much stronger stomachs. Yeeccchhh.

Re: Anonymous

Ah yes, the same paper that has repeatedly endorsed Mr. Bush's Babylonian Misadventure is a "liberal" publication. The same paper that mendaciously attacks any Democrat who criticizes the Pres. and his war. Yup, they're the liberals.

I should have known.

Re: Mr. Sylvester

I respectfully disagree. The JG is decidedly centrist. Liberalism rarely, if ever, figures in.

Anonymous said...

It may seem centrist if you're way out in left field. And the poster above is right, it is not exactly Marxist propoganda. But it is certainly to the left of the FW political spectrum and I would posit to the left of the American political spectrum.

I'm a Democrat and I rarely seem to agree w/ the JG editorial page these days.

I don't think they're liberal - I would call them out-of-touch and perhaps a little ignorant (and before you wiseguys chime in - they are not one in the same)...
