I plan on changing this blog significantly in a month or two...
After talking with several local Libertarians we have decided to convert this blog into a "Community Libertarian Blog."
Too many people think of Mike Sylvester when they think of the Allen County Libertarian Party and we are much more then just one person. We have a lot of great members and we need to use this blog to ensure that residents of Allen County understand where Libertarians stand on many issues.
My views are not the same as those of all Libertarians. I consider myself an "incremental" Libertarian. I want to see the size and scope of Government shrink; however, not all Libertarians are the same.
We are hoping to get 5 - 10 local Libertarians to contribute to this blog once per week. I will most likely contribute to the blog more then once a week because I really like it!
I plan on turning this blog over to one of the current Officers of the Libertarian Party; Robert Enders. Robert does a great job of portraying a more "traditional" Libertarian viewpoint.
Please contact me if you want to be a contributor to this blog when it becomes a "Community Libertarian Blog" for Allen County and Fort Wayne!
Robert Enders has established a "Community Libertarian Blog" that we will use until I am ready to convert this blog into our "Community Libertarian Blog."
Please check out Summit City Libertarians at:
<http://summitcitylibertarians.blogspot.com/>
I will be starting another Fort Wayne blog when I turn this blog over. I will be focusing on accounting, taxes, Fort Wayne politics, the Fort Wayne blogoshpere, and I think I may actually do some journalism on my new blog. I am going to TRY to post my Libertarian posts on this blog and limit the new blog to the afore mentioned items.
I imagine this will be hard for me.
Currently this blog is just my opinion, that will change.
Mike Sylvester

I'm sorry to hear that Mike. I really like this blog as is because I think you get a plethora of different views.
I understand you want to support the local party but I don't think sacrificing your blog is the way to go.
However, it's obviously your decision but I thought I'd weigh in for what it's worth...
Jeff,
With more contributors, we get a larger plethora of different viewpoints.
We will have a link to Mike's new blog when it comes up. Only Mike can make accounting sound interesting.
Don't act as if Lt Col. Blake's plane was shot down over the Sea of Japan...
Mike, you might consider keeping your own blog and changing the name to something more personal, letting the Allen County LP set up that sort of community blog.
For what it's worth, we did this in Hamilton County. I kept my blog (which I used as a campaign tool), and the Hamilton County LP set up a blog, with four contributors. Michael Jarrell also has his own blog. We use our blogs to comment on the whole wide world of sports, and the HCLP blog only to comment on HC news. We expect the cast of contributors at the HCLP to change over time, so we felt it was best if the party "owned" that blog.
Robert,
I agree w/ Mike K. I think this site has built up a good amount of traffic and I like coming here because of that. The problem is once it changes people will leave and they may not find their way to Mike's new blog.
I guess I don't understand why you can't just start your own community blog w/o using Mike's. The only conclusion I can come to is that you want to utilize the current traffic for the party's sake. I can respect that but I don't think it will work and you'll possibly ruin a great blog in the process.
Mike's done a great job promoting the party and he definitely shouldn't feel obligated to hand over his successful blog to you because you don't want to build your own traffic.
My 2 cents FWIW...
A lot to think about:
This is MY idea not Robert's idea...
I plan on running another blog that I post on EVERY day. My current blog is named AllenCounty LP. I think the name should change since I am not an officer...
My hope is to get local Libertarians to start using this blog (I will keep using it as well) and to start my own with another name...
I always figured that the traffic would split between the two blogs...
I figure that those people who want to learn more about the Allen County LP will come to the Community blog and those poeple who just want my take on things will come to the new blog...
I am not going to stop blogging...
I will keep reading poeple's comments as well... Nothing is set into stone yet...
What do you all think?
Mike Sylvester
Mike,
Jen and I think that we should reserve this blog for use by current officers, candidates, and prominent former officers. It will be the Official Blog. People will continue to see high quality posts at this blog.
Summit City Libertarians will be more open to libertarians and libertarian-minded contributors.
In other words:
AllenCountyLP blog: Elitist
Summit City Libertarians: Egalitarian
AllenCountyLP: Quality
Summit City Libertarians: Quantity
AllenCountyLP: Mercedes
Summit City Libertarians: Volkswagon
Robert,
Nice ideas, but do you really the local demand for libertarianism requires two blogs?!
Scott Greider
Scott,
I agree and I think it would serve everyone better if they just decided to ditch the egalitarian blog and post at U-blog-press instead. It's a local blog that allows anyone to post on any topic they wish...
Scott:
No I do not...
I think there should be ONE Libertarian blog. That would be plenty...
Mike Sylvester
I can see the point of one blog, definately. I wouldn't want to limit anyone's free speech about Libertarians or otherwise, however.
Mike has built something very great here, and I think we share a concern as not to compromise that.
Perhaps a change of including contributors would be enough to get a large and offical Libertarian viewpoint out there?
This blog is the second most popular blog in Fort Wayne. There is plenty of demand. I think my biggest challenge is generating enough content for three blogs. If "Summit City Libetarians" proves itself to be a hit, then I think it would be foolish to kill the blog after one month. Let see what happens a month from now and take it from there.
