City Council gets one right.

The City Council voted against making the 1000 block of Broadway a historic district. While it is good to preserve the past, it shouldn't be done at the expense of the future. Buildings must be upgraded or replaced as people's needs change.

Do you know what they used to have on Broadway that they don't have anymore? Property rights!

So the expense of the future is expanded parking for the church ? Thats absurd.

If that is what the church wants, then they have the right to put that there. The city is tearing down several landmark restaurants in order to build a parking garage, so apparently they too believe that more downtown parking is needed.
The church might even decide to use their new lots as a source of revenue by charging for parking during special events.
