13th item promised in the Republican Contract with America

The 13th item promised in the Republican Contract with America

"The American Dream Restoration Act, A $500 per child tax credit, begin repeal of the marriage tax penalty, and creation of American Dream Savings Accounts to provide middle class tax relief."

This is overall a very simple promise to grade, for simplicity I will split it into three parts.

1st is the $500 per child tax credit. This was done, in fact they have gone even farther now; the child tax credit has been increased to $1000 per child. The child tax credit is tied to income, in other words, if the parent makes a lot of money, they do not get the tax credit. Without a doubt; the Republicans delivered this tax credit to both the poor and the middle class.

2nd is beginning to repeal the marriage tax penalty. It took some time; but, this promise has been fulfilled as well.

3rd is creation of American Dream Savings Accounts to provide middle class tax relief. The tax laws have been modified to make it easier for all classes of American to save for retirement. I have to give The Republcians credit for this one as well.

I have to say that The Republicans did come through on this promise in its entirety!

Score of Republican Contract with America:
Promises Broken 8
Promises Kept 5
