I think there is a very good chance now that The Democrats take back several seats in BOTH the Senate and The House later this year...
I think The Republicans SHOULD be voted out of office.
Amnesty is wrong. I understand why The Democrats support amnesty... It is just part of their liberal mindset on social issues...
Reagon convinced us to give 3.5 million illegal aliens in 1986. This was supposed to fix the problem...
Due to government incompetence, both Democrat and Republican, we have NOT secured our borders...
Now we have AT LEAST 11 million illegal immigrants... They are protesting in the streets...
This is crazy...

They're thinking that if the immigrants aren't legalized, they might actually have to take action against their business supporters who know full well they're hiring illegal aliens.

I usually agree with you, but I took issue with one of your earlier posts when you said the Roman Catholic Church is in favor of illegals.
Please read this recent editorial by Roger Mahony (the Los Angeles cardinal who originally was misinterpreted as saying the church favored illegals).

He says, in part: "What the church supports is an overhaul of the immigration system so that legal status and legal channels for migration replace illegal status and illegal immigration. Creating legal structures for migration protects not only those who migrate but also our nation, by giving the government the ability to better identify who is in the country as well as to control who enters it.
Only comprehensive reform of the immigration system, embodied in the principles of another bill in Congress, the proposed Secure America and Orderly Immigration Act, will help solve our current immigration crisis."
Yes, Catholic Charities serve both citizens and immigrants, but there's a big difference between helping people in need and supporting illegal immigration.
The CS Monitor has a decent article. They describe the rift in the Republican Party on the immigration issue as follows:
Polls show a strong majority of Republican voters oppose amnesty for those in the country illegally, but business groups, a core GOP constituency, want to assure a supply of low-wage workers for agriculture, construction, restaurant, and other services.

Catholic Reader: I have went and read the editorial you recommended and I have read some others. I do not think the entire Roman Catholic Church is for the illegal aliens; I do think that a lot of the higher ups in The Roman Catholic Church (especially in certain locations) are in favor of illegal aliens. Realize that MOST illegal aliens are Roman Catholics and so the Church will tend to support them.
I am sorry if this offends you; but, I still feel that it is true...
If you post some more links to additional editorials I will read them for sure and I may well change my opinion... I also would be HAPPY to make a post from you and include your links so other people reading this blog can form their own opinions!
If our elected officials grant amnesty to eleven million illegal aliens I really think that The Republicans will, and should, lose a lot of seats in 2006...
