Fort Wayne Insight and Jeff Fraser

*EXCLUSIVE*

Possible censorship of a local Fort Wayne blog!

Jeff Fraser has been running a blog for about three weeks. He started this blog after his "Freedom of Speech" issues with NACS, since he had a lot of time on his hands.

Jeff has done some commenting on Carroll High School on his blog; but, he limited his commentary and kept it "clean." I have enjoyed reading Jeff's blog. I think we should encourage our young people to both think for themselves and to express their own opinions. I do not want to live in a nation of "sheeple."

Jeff has an extremely successful blog and he has managed to generate as many as 500 page views on some days. This is impressive and has given Jeff something to do since he was "booted" out of NACS for writing a "satire."

You can find a link to Jeff's Blog "Fort Wayne Insight" on my side bar or you can follow this link to his blog:
<http://fortwayneinsight.blogspot.com/>

I look at Jeff's blog daily. All of his comments about Carroll High School have been deleted... There is no explanation on his blog as to why he has deleted every comment about Carroll High School.

I can only think of one reason why he would delete all of these comments...

Since I am running for Northwest Allen County School Board I will be looking into this further...

I would think NACS would leave Jeff alone. They have already booted him out of school. They should not even consider trying to control his "Freedom of Speech" on the internet.

If you find out more about this please email me at Mike.Sylvester@Verizon.net or call me at 260-338-0833.

Give it up, Mike. Jeff Fraser has been flouting the agreement he signed last month ever since he started his blog. He knew that his postings on Carroll High School violated the gag order that was part of the settlement. Right or wrong, he agreed to those terms.

He's not a victim here. And this is no scandal. Let's stop treating Jeff like some First Amendment hero. He's just a punk kid.

Geez Marty, did we wake up grumpy today? Punk kid seems a little harsh...

I do not know who you are Marty; but, I respect your right to disagree and have your own opinion, that is one of the best things about this country.

Maybe you know more about the situation then I do; but, I doubt it. What exactly does the "gag order" entail? I really do not know. My guess is that it prevents him from discussing the deal Jeff's family, Steve Shine, Dr. Yaeger, The School Board, and their lawyer agreed to.

As far as I can remember Jeff's blog in no way violated this agreement. Jeff's blog is critical of Carroll and it is his right to be critical of Carroll.

I have a small copy of The Constitution that I keep next to my computer. I would be happy to highlight the applicable portions and send it to you so you can read it my friend!

I just tried sending Jeff a message (elsewhere on the internet) to try and find out some info about this situation, but every time I try to do it, it gives me an error saying as follows (in bold):

An Error has occurred!!

An error has occurred trying to send this message. Possible causes are:

Error inserting message into MailInbox.

(Note that there was an extra bit of HTML that I couldn't enter because of Blogger's commenting system, and it might have contained important info, I don't know.)

I don't know if this is just a case of the particular website being buggy or something more. (I sent someone else a test message; it went through.)

Mike, spare me the drama. There's no need to be throwing around our pocket copies of the Constitution over this.

If certain posts were pulled, they were pulled by Fraser (perhaps on advice from his attorney?) and not because of any government interference. If he didn't feel that his comments violated the terms of the settlement he agreed to, there was no reason to delete them.

Here's another note: noticing that Jeff deleted his Carroll posts and guessing that it might be censorship doesn't count as an "exclusive." Do some actual reporting first, like calling Jeff and asking him why he took down the posts. Then you can trumpet your post. As it is, you just look silly.

And by the way, Fraser was a minor when he accepted the terms of the agreement, and still is. If there was any "censorship" here, it was probably from mommy and daddy, who didn't want to get sued because Jeff couldn't get over his problems with Carroll.

LP Mike Sylvester said...

Of course the posts were pulled by Fraser, of that there is no doubt...

Then how could this be censorship?

William Larsen said...

It may not be censorship in the sense most commonly known, but it may be under duress or intimidation.

Who is best to tell us what our schools are like from a student’s perspective, the board/superintendent or a student? Jeff is politically incorrect, is this a bad thing?

Jeff is a good kid. The NWAC was wrong in expelling Jeff. Those on the board as well as the Superintendent need to answer the questions or leave.

Rather than speculate, why doesn't someone contact Jeff and ASK him? Mike, you seem to be buddies with the kid (and it looks like you're aligning yourself with his "plight" in your campaign for school board) so why don't you call him?

Before we start throwing around words like censorship, intimidation and duress, let's do a little investigating, shall we? Instead of rushing to outrage.

It's nice that you all have an opinion. It would be even better if it was based on facts.

I very much enjoy your web-site and Jeff's blogging and insight. I hope this information and facts will shed some light on what is
happenning in our schools.

If you haven't heard about the story of this brave 16 year old, World Geography Student, Sean Allen, taping his teacher's
one-sided political tirade here:

Wake Up, Marty! Change is needed!

Marty:

I think Jeff has a voice, for middle school, high school students
and as a parent, I believe that voice should be heard. It's true.

Here's another thought:
At the K-12 schools, parents should show up at schools, PTAs and board of education meetings demanding that teachers teach reading, writing and arithmetic and leave indoctrination to parents. The most promising tool in the fight against teacher proselytization is the micro-technology available that can expose the academic misconduct.

This kind of indoctrination is by no means restricted to Overland High School. School teachers, at all grades, often use their classroom for environmental, anti-war, anti-capitalist and anti-parent propaganda. Some get their students to write letters to political figures condemning public policy the teacher doesn't like. Dr. Thomas Sowell's "Inside American Education" documents numerous ways teachers attack parental authority. Teachers have asked third-graders, "How many of you ever wanted to beat up your parents?" In a high school health class, students were asked, "How many of you hate your parents?"

Public education propaganda is often a precursor for what youngsters might encounter in college. UCLA's Bruin Standard newspaper documents campus propaganda. Mary Corey, UCLA history professor, instructed her class, "Capitalism isn't a lie on purpose. It's just a lie," she continued, "[Capitalists] are swine. . . . They're bastard people." Professor Andrew Hewitt, chairman of UCLA's Department of Germanic Languages, told his class, "Bush is a moron, a simpleton, and an idiot." His opinion of the rest of us: "American consumerism is a very unique thing; I don't think anyone else lusts after money in such a greedy fashion." Rod Swanson, economics professor, told his class, "The United States of America, backed by facts, is the greediest and most selfish country in the world." Terri Anderson, a sociology professor, assigned her class to go out cross-dressed in a public setting for four hours. Photos or videotape were required as proof of having completed the assignment.

Regardless of whether you're pro-Bush or anti-Bush, pro-American or anti-American, I'd like to know whether there's anyone who believes that the teacher's remarks were appropriate for any classroom setting, much less a high school geography class. It's clear the students aren't being taught geography. They're getting socialist lies and propaganda. According to one of the parents, on the first day of class, the teacher said Karl Marx's "Communist Manifesto" was going to be a part of the curriculum.

Looks like Jeff's site is off the net. All I get now is a blank blue screen.

Maybe it is time to put some pressure on NWAC. They are in violation of 5 USC 552a (e) (3) (A). They were notified of this two years ago and have not done a thing about it.

Anonymous said...

Kelley's comments are nice but sadly have nothing to do with Jeff Fraser or this "situation."

Bobett, Jeff does have a voice. It is most often used to get attention for Jeff Fraser.

Hey Bill, before you go advocate putting "some pressure" on NACS, maybe you ought to take the time to find out what is really going on. Oh, but it's more fun to make assumptions based on the fact that Jeff has taken all his posts down from Fort Wayne Insight! Censorship! Intimidation! Cry for attention!

William Larsen said...

Marty,

When I enrolled my children in NWAC I saw on the enrollment form a clear violation of federal law and notified the principals at each school. They did nothing. You would think they would leave things well enough alone, but no.

Carroll High School harassed my son on a daily basis during homeroom. They basically called him a liar every day wanting information he did not have nor was required to have or provide. I called the Superintendent about it and identified the federal statute they were violating. The Superintendent told me he would look into it. He never looked into it; they are still in violation of the law, but continued to harass my son. By doing this they are putting every single student at risk for identity theft.

To curb this I had to tell them to stop or I would file a federal suit against the school. They stopped harassing my son, but they are still violating the law.

I understand all too well how school systems work and this one is no different. Respect is not given, it is earned. NWAC has not earned my respect. They do not treat students with respect nor do they have equal treatment.

I read Jeff's material, though I disagree with it, it is nothing more than creative writing. As I recall creative writing is what is expected of students.

Looks like Fort Wayne Insight is back up. So much for your "exclusive," Mike, and everyone's conspiracy theories.

By the way, I'm a little disappointed the title of this post wasn't "Down Goes Fraser."

LP Mike Sylvester said...

Marty you need to learn to read a little better.

I never said Fort Wayne Insight was down. That was said on other blogs.

I said that all comments about NACS were deleted...

Marty,

Had a nice email chat w/Jeff. Marty, I might recommend that you step down from your horse on this one. Without going into details which are not mine to disclose, let's just say that almost all of your bold assumptions were without merit...as was 95% of your ranting.

It is 100% obvious what is going on... To EVERYONE except Marty.

Mike

My apologies. You're right; you were the first one to *exclusively* report that you went on Jeff's blog and noticed that some Carroll-related posts had been deleted. I'm sure that no one else went on Jeff's blog and noticed the same thing. Terrific reporting.

Andrew:

I guess I'll have to take your word for that, considering that a) Jeff is a trustworthy source of news, b) he has no motivation to lie in order to make himself look better, and c) Jeff is being quite frank about this situation as well as his connections with Rich Reynolds of MediaWatch.

Or not.

Andrew Kaduk said...

Mart,

I'll concede to you on that, I don't know Jeff from Adam and I have absolutely no idea who Rich Reynolds is except a UFO nutbag. I just moved here...and I've only been blogging for a little over a month. I guess I'm not mentally equipped to read into some of these things (read: c'mon, I was a high school kid once too...much like Jeff I might add...published my own op/ed/tabloid school newspaper every week [not endorsed by admin at all], got in lots of trouble for it etc.) From the looks of Jeff's page traffic, I'd say if it was a publicity stunt, it failed miserably.
