It looks like The Republican Senate is going to recommend Amnesty for 11 million illegal aliens. I told you they would...
Here is an idea; people keep saying that the illegal alien problem is so large that we have to grant amnesty. By that logic should we not legalize speeding in our automobiles?
Almost every American speeds on our roads and this actually does result in hundred of thousands of DEATHS.
But, since a majority of Americans do it we should make it legal and REFUND all past speeding penalties, right?

On the other hand, should we make it a felony to harbor someone with an outstanding speeding ticket?
"Bring me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to be free."
We've come a long way if you believe what you have just posted. The hispanic population comming over the border is not a threat to you anymore than the Irish were the 'big threat' that the nativists said they were at the end of the 19th century (if you dont understand, please see Gangs of New York).
The immigration control at Ellis Island, albiet not 'illegal' by any means would have been a cakewalk for the hispanic people that cross our boarder every year. There has always been a lower class of workers to do all of the crap jobs in America, and there will always be that population. Stop whining about them - somebody's gotta scrub the toilet at the Holiday Inn. Otherwise that business business friendly, reactionary laissez-faire capitalism that you believe cures all ill in our nation WOULDNT WORK.
These people are taking the crapiest jobs in America, work that many Americans believe is beneath them and trying to live the American capitalistic dream that you reactionary libertarians 'seem' to worship. For God's sake, let them try to better themselves, let them come to this country, with the clothes on their back and try to become productive members of society.
Or maybe we should forget the immigrant heritage of all Americans....
The Statue of Liberty:
Of course I believe what I have just posted.
I am a hard working citizen. I spent six years in The United States Navy. I pay my taxes. I love America.
I am in favor of LEGAL IMMIGRATION. I am no way in favor of illegal immigration.
MIke Sylvester
Heh Heh, the Statue of Liberty said comming.
When the Irish were the dominant immigrant group, back in the mid to late 1800s, there were not the social services there are now at the disposal of illegal immigrants. Irish immigrants had to provide for themselves, or rely on charity for everything. This also applies to the Germans, Italians, Poles, and myriad other immigrant groups that came prior to the 1970s.
I'll take the huddled masses yearning to be free. Yearning to be free and coming for handouts are not the same thing.
I resent illegals coming here to work without paying income taxes while I am burdened with income taxes. Am I to be punished for being legal, while being illegal is rewarded? Make me illegal, then! I resent illegals sucking free health care, while I pay for health care. If I am to be punished for being legal, while being illegal is rewarded, make me illegal!
Let's shut off the services, such as free health care, for illegals, and let as many come as wish. I'm glad they take the jobs they take. My immigrant heritage is Irish-Hungarian-Polish-Slovenian. None came with their hands out. They came with the shirts on their backs and they used their hands and their backs to make a living. No complaints, no free ride on someone else's back. It should be so once again.
Here's where it gets funny. Illegal immigrants often will use forged Social Security numbers in order to get a job. So their employers will withhold Social Security tax from their paychecks. Yet as noncitizens with SSN's that are either fake or belong to someone else, they can never claim Social Security benefits. They are paying into a system that they will never get anything from. These aliens are in fact proping up our bloated welfare state and are getting screwed in the process!
All aliens as a whole, regardless of their legal status, are in fact more likely to be employed than natural born US citizens. You don't risk death by dehydration crossing a desert on foot or try to sail 90 miles in a leaky boat just so you can live off food stamps.
By the way, "Statue".
"Reactionary" refers to a desire to change things to the way they were a long time ago. Lasseiz faire capitalism has never been practiced in its purest form. The government has always meddled in the economy through tarriffs and subsidies. Therefore it is not a reactionary concept.
We Libertarians boldly advocate this because the closer a country gets to an actual lasseiz faire system, the better off its economy.
Some argue that its too much of a risk because its never been tried before. But this is like telling an 18 year old that he can never move out of his parents's house because he has never lived on his own before. It is time we tried something better than the mixed economy....
Robert is certainly right about illegal immigrants putting SOME money in the Social Security system that they will never get out.
Believe me, they SHOULD NOT GET ANYTHING out of the Social Security system (I will not get anything out of the social security system). The people who are putting money into the Social Security system have committed ANOTHER crime. They have stolen another person's identity.
They should be punished even more then the other illegal aliens...

The Statue of Liberty wrote "These people are taking the crapiest jobs in America, work that many Americans believe is beneath them and trying to live the American capitalistic dream that you reactionary libertarians 'seem' to worship."
In Elkhart there are many Mexicans who may not be here legally working in the RV, medium size bus and trailer industry. Goshen Coach had at least five employees who one day were shipped back. Your statement that they take the lowest paying jobs is not totally correct. They are increasingly taking construction and manufacturing jobs.
Don’t get me wrong, immigration is good. However, we need controlled immigration so that we know who is coming in, what they are going to do, that they can support themselves and family without being a burden on our infrastructure. My grandparents were immigrants from Norway and England in the early part of the last century.
