Mike's diet update

Week two of my diet is complete. I managed to lose another 2 pounds. So in a grand total of two weeks; I have lost 9 pounds.

These numbers are typical of my past diets. I consume so darn many calories when not on a diet that I can always lose some weight in the first couple of weeks with little real effort...

My wife and I are both trying to lose weight. We actually both want to lose the same amount of weight this year. We both want to lose 43 pounds in a grand total of 32 weeks. The last week will be a short week... Our goal is to lose this weight by Dec 31st...

I am not sure why I am posting updates on my blog...

Generally, no.

When I am on a diet I do tend to excercies. IN the first couple of weeks I excercise a little, and I ramp it up over the course of the diet...

Mike, I had proposed earlier that we form a flag football or dodgeball team and play out at the Plex. You tend to stick to an exercise regimen better if you are doing with others.

Today I weighed myself. I am 210 pounds. When I was 20, I weighed 140. I have been gaining 10 pounds a year. I don't think that all of it is fat, but I do have a belly now. Sometimes you GAIN weight in the form of as a result of exercise.

Have you talked to a doctor about your weight? You should take a water displacement test and see how much of your weight is actual fat. Often overweight people gain muscle mass because they have to carry all that fat around. So your target weight may be higher than what you weighed in high school or when you got out of the Navy.

Of course I have NOT talked to a Dr. about my weight. I KNOW I am over-weight...

I need to lose some...

I'll weigh in, har har.

Coming out of high school, I weighed 135 pounds. I could do nothing to keep weight on. Memories! At the beginning of this year, I weighed just under 200, which is far too much for me. I decided it was time to get the spare tire off.

I now weigh 181, and am ready to get it back up to 190. that's about where I end up when I am going to the gym 3x/week faithfully, and getting truly fit.

Good for the campaign trail, but better for the trails in the Adirondacks this summer, and for hockey season in fall!
