Republicans and Democrats, is there really a difference?

I posted about the online gambling bill a few weeks ago. The Republicans attached a bill that bans most (With certain exceptions for their political contibutors) internet gambling in the United States. They attached it to the Port Security Bill and passed it in the dark of night...

First of all there is NO REASON these bills should have been combined.

Remember back to 1994 when the Republicans promised to handle Congress differently? I do. They condemned behavior like combining bills, or course, once they took power they kept doing the exact same thing...

Please follow this link and watch a 3 minute and 45 second video about the bill, how it was passed, and which special interest groups were involved.

It is well worth your time.

Tim Zank, what do you think?

That is a classic Mike...I agree the bills should not have been combined and in fact I don't think the on-line gaming bill should EVER have been considered or passed. It is asinine on all levels...I agree the repubs have gone back on their word and their ideals...
but as a wise man once told me (my dad) instead of just complaining or walking away or giving up, why not first try to make it work?

As I've said...they've got one more primary with me......

I reached the point you are at several years ago...

For awhile I tried to fix The Republican Party.

I no longer feel they are salvageable...

That is why I am a Libertarian...

I respect your decision. I may very well reach that point soon....

The GOP currently has fiscal conservatives, moderates, RINO's, religious fundamentalists who want to impose their values on others. Over the next decade or so, the Republican Party may go the way of the Whigs. The fiscal conservatives will join the LP, the moderates and RINO's will join the Democrats, and the religious fundamentalists will join the Taliban.

Robert,

So the religous fundamentalists will all just move to Kansas and join the Republican Party? Sounds like Phill Kline's master plan...
