Mark Souder and his silly Radio Ads

I have listened to Mark Souder's radio ad about gun control. I do not like gun control. I think gun control is hitting your target. I keep handguns on my property so that I can kill any intruder who threatens my family.

Mark Souder used to be a C.O. and a Pacifist. He has "Flip-flopped" on gun control in a huge way.

Mark Souder actually has a good voting record on gun control. It is one of the few records he should be proud of.

What I want to know is why he is so proud of helping pass legislation for Washington DC. Last time I checked, he is The Congressman for the 3rd Congressional District of Indiana. While he has been our Congressman we have lost thousands of jobs and have often led the entire nation in Bankruptcies.

I would think he should focus on Indiana...

I hope the readers of this blog all vote for Mr. Larsen if you vote in The Republican primary...

Mike,

I'll be voting for our NEXT Congressman, Dr.Tom Hayhurst. I hope you will join me in November.

Yeah, like Indiana's going to elect a wannabe socialist on a "free medicine for everybody" platform.

Hayhurst seems like a really good, bright guy, but somebody should have told him a long time ago that socialized medicine is not the way to the voters' hearts in Indiana.

Good luck tomorrow, Mike.

John,
Yesterday in the News Sentinel and on the News they reported Social Security's financial condition has worsened. Instead of 2041, it is now 2040. In 1984 they projected 2064 while my computer model showed 2037. My model today shows mid 2038.

In the same breath, Medicare is now set to be unable to pay scheduled benefits past 2018, two years sooner.

In March 2006, our politicians spent $85.5 Billion more than they taxed us. This meant they borrowed the money. This also means on an annualized rate the deficit for 2006 is $1.02 Trillion. But the bad news is this is a unified budget deficit, not the real deficit, which is probably closer to $1.2 to $1.3 Trillion.

They borrow money, reap the benefits and give the bill to our children. I have had enough talk. How about you? Can you just say no to two more years?

Bill, I have already YELLED no to two more years, as well as four more years. Bush has ballooned our national debt far greater than any Republican's worst Democratic nightmare! And I totally agree, the REAL numbers are being hidden, although not in the same manner as they were accused of being "worked" when Mr.Clinton gave us a surplus.

Andy- So, your against healthcare and pro oil companies. got it.

Is Hayhurst really for universal health care?

Andrew Kaduk said...

Robert, read his campaign platform, it's on his website.

And John, I am for healthcare, everyone needs it. Hence, I provide it for my family when they are in need. I feel everyone else should do the same. A universal single-payer system would never work here, there's too many of us. And yes, I am pro capitalism.

I voted for Parra in '04 in spite of the fact that she was for socialized medicine. Quite frankly, I voted for her because she backed out of her debate with Souder and struck me as a ineffective politician. I would support an ineffective socialist over Mark Souder any day.

But Hayhurst strikes me as a smart man. That might make him as dangerous as Souder, just in a different way.

I soooo agree Robert.

I am VERY disappointed that Mr. Larsen was defeated by Mark Souder...

There is currenlty NOT a Libertarian candidate.

I will definately be voting for Tom Hayhurst in November. I DO NOT Agree with Tom on everything; but, Mark Souder has broken too many promises and is as clue-less as they come...

Andy Kaduk,

I check Hayhurst's website and I could not find anything on there that says that he is in fact for socialized medicine. He does work at the free clinic, and that is perfectly fine, even honorable. So I will be voting for him unless he actually comes out and says something totally out of line.

Andrew Kaduk said...

Hmmf. It seems he has redone his website since I last browsed. He used to have a button that read "Campaign Platform" or something to that effect. He clearly outlined his desire for the government to "make" healthcare affordable...and we all know what that means. I'll likely be voting like you, Robert. I like the whole notion of an ineffective socialist as opposed to a theocratic totalitarian dressed up like a republican.

Andrew Kaduk said...

I should add that I did like his comments on making it easier to start a small business...I can vote for somebody with that kind of attitude. I did find a quote in the "Press Room" section of his website alluding to his socialist views toward healthcare, but it wasn't worded quite like the campaign bulletpoint used to be back when he first announced he'd be running. He got smart and scrapped that part for now!

Andy.
Mike and I know the guy who does Hayhurst's website. Hayhurst has made it plain that he does not favor socialized medicine.

Andrew Kaduk said...

Hayhurst is running on a platform based largely on affordable healthcare for everyone. As a practicing doctor in northeast Indiana, he says he meets an increasing number of patients forced to decide between putting food on the table and paying their medical bills. "I'm motivated by my feelings about this country, veterans, affordable healthcare and the future of this nation," said Hayhurst.

Directly from his "Press Room" on his website. So tell me, how do you "make health care affordable for everyone" without regulating it or socializing it? This is where my biggest problems with Hayhurst originate, because he says things like this without presenting a preferred course of action.

Andrew asks some good questions that Tom Hayhurst needs to answer...

Tom's stance on healthcare is just a warm and fuzzy statement that does not tell us how it will be accomplished...

In the two hours he and I talked there are only two things he told me SPECIFICALLY about healthcare:

1. He wants the Federal Government to negotiate for bulk discounts on all drugs it buys. This is common sense and it tells us something about how bad our current politicians really are... The Federal Government does not currently negotiate except for the V.A. That is shameful...

2. He is an incrementalist. He wants to change things slowly. This tells me that he is NOT currently advocating socialized medicine...

I am voting for Tom Hayhurst in November...

I agree with Andrew that Tom Hayhurt's platform is not concrete enough... He makes a lot of generalizations and does NOT tell us how he will accomplish them...

For example, he says he is a fiscal conservative AND he talks about expanding programs. Where will he cut money?

Hayhurst already has my vote by default, as I will not be "purple thumbing" Souder's Fauxpublican ass. The good Doctor needs to learn how to talk to Republicans though. Right now, his generalizations and idealistic stances will only impress Democrats (they dig that sort of thing).
