I am 100% appalled that George Bush and many Republican and Democratic elected officials along with the main stream media have already "convicted" a group of United States Marines of killing innocent civilians in Iraq.
Our Marines are innocent until prove guilty. Period.
It is not complicated.
Sometimes I feel that murderers, rapists, and criminals have more rights then anyone else.
The Marines involved in the incident in Haditha have already been "convicted" by the media and a bunch of our politicians; and not just liberal politicians, Republicans including President Bush have responded horribly to this accusation.
Things like this often make me wonder where my country is going...
I am VERY disappointed in President Bush.
Very disappointed.
Mike Sylvester

Seems to me President Bush has pretty much stayed with his standard script "If found guilty they will be punished". There isn't a whole lot more he CAN say really.
The people to be really pissed at would be the House and Senate on both sides of the aisle.
In their insulated world, their only concern is being re-elected.
For them "doing the right thing" just never comes into play.
The founders of this great country knew a certain percentage of all people are thieves, liars, cheats, philanderers, murderers, child molesters, or just plain morons. The system is set up with checks and balances (namely elections) to keep that percentage to a minimum.
The problem is.....They could have NEVER imagined 300 million people and the "instant" access to information (most of it incorrect).
No matter what your political stripes, until we start electing people that want to serve because it's the right thing to do (as opposed to people who want to serve because it's the right thing to do FOR THEM) we'll remain in a state of moral and economic chaos.
I'm disappointed in all of us.
Of course there is Tim. I would try something like this:
"I have full faith in the United States Military and its personel. If warranted, The United States Military has a policy of investigating events that involve its staff. One of the founding principals of this country is that our citizens are INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY. This is a principle that the press should adhere to."

Mike, I honestly think he said that yesterday. I remember hearing the audio along those lines during a brief Q & A with the Prez from Ruwanda... Admittedly, not that eloquent though!
I can't justify or agree with everything he does, but I really like the guy because I think his heart is in the right place and amid all the chaos he really is trying to leave this world a better place.....
Tim,
I have looked at transcripts of what he said and I just do not agree with you. He is HEDGING big time on those marines and he DID NOT take a forceful stand on it, not at all.
Anymore there is just one thing I still like about Bush.
I like the fact that he is not really a career politician. I tend to believe in citizen politicians, Bush is a far cry from that; but, he has not been an elected politician his entire life...
I think Bush will go down as the SECOND worst president in modern times.
The worst is LBJ. Do not get me started on LBJ...

You have Ford ranked as second best. What do or do you not like about him? What I like is that he was not in office long enough to do much damage.
