Bush's Second "Stealth" Supreme Court Nominee

I am NOT surprised that President Bush appointed another person to The Supreme Court that has no track record.

I think that this is going to be a VERY interesting Supreme Court battle.

I expect to see the far left Democrats and the far right Republicans both oppose this pick. I expect that the "moderates" in both parties will vote for her. My guess is she will get on The Supreme Court easily.

I think this is going to hurt The Republicans in the 2006 election. President Bush "PROMISED" to appoint serious conservatives to The Supreme Court; he has failed to do this.

Cheney was on the Limbaugh show earlier promising the right that they won't be disappointed. Sounds like damage control to me, but I think any judgement of Miers is very premature. That goes for both sides.

Judgment is premature, since it seems nobody really knows about Miers' and her positions. However, a quick scan of Right talk radio (Limbaugh, Hannity, Boortz, Beck) all revealed social conservatives feeling immediately disappointed at not getting the obvious candidate representing an attack on Roe v. Wade. This is a fight they wanted very much, and they expressed the feeling that they aren't going to get it.

The pick does satisfy my prediction that Bush would tab someone without a judicial record suitable for a litmus test. It worked very well in the case of Roberts.

Amen, Zack. I'm not shedding a tear for them, by any means. Just observing the implosion of the GOP, between the alienation of both the fiscal and social conservatives. Big fun!
