Bush names "real conservative" as his newest Supreme Court Nominee

Let the games begin.

I am looking forward to watching The Democrats lose even more credibility with main stream America.

Just listen for some Ted Kennedy quotes, I am sure they will be absurd...

And what did we learn?

Republicans are allowed to criticize Bush nominees, but Dems are not.

It must be this way or the terrorists have already won.

That is completely untrue and you know it Craig!

Lets look at Alito. He was confrimed by The Senate with over 90 votes. If he was ok for an Apellate Court then he must be well qualified right, or why did the Democrats vote for him last time?

The truth is The Democrats are extremely two faced and unfair when it comes to judges on The Supreme Court.

The mere fact that Ruth Bader Ginsburg (Who I agree with on several issues I might add) was approved to The Supreme Court with over 90 votes. As it should be with Alito...

If The Democrats want to control the Supreme Court they need to do two things. Get a Democrat elected president, and get at least 50 Senatros in The Senate. That is not too tough is it?

In fact as badly as Bush has bungled things it should be down right easy for the Democrats to beat him...

You change the topic in midstream my friend. First you say "listen for absurd Ted Kennedy quotes." And then you start talking about votes once I call you on it. Which is it Mike?

I think this upcoming battle will make The Democrats look even worse then they have been...

I think The Democratic Party COULD become the majority Party again; but, they will not. They let lunatics like Kennedy speak for them!

I gaurantee you that The Democratic Party would become a lot more popular if Kennedy would step down. They should get rid of Boxer and Schumer as well...

Scandals are created by both The Republican and Democratic Parties as is corruption. I am not sure which Party is dirtier when the facts are looked at.

I tend to think that whatever Party is in power tends to be the more corrupt; because they have the opportunity to be corrupt...

I am not fond of most of The Republican leadership; I grant you that. But The Democratic leadership is TERRIBLE.

The Democrats only have to do two things in my opinion to regain the majority in The Senate, The House, and The Presidency is.

First, come up with one reasonably "moderate" platform that is full of ideas instead of a bunch of negativism.

Second get new leaders...

Get new leaders

I still wish the pick were Janice Rogers Brown. Alas.

It doesn't surprise me at all that Kennedy, Boxer, Clinton, Reid, et al, are making ad hominen dismissals. You have to expect the Democratic leadership to do that, because the Democratic base wants and expects them to do it. They would be letting their base down significantly if at least some of them failed to react negatively.

This group is part of the subset of the Senate from both parties who are what I call 'national Senators'. They don't so much represent their states as a national base. Certainly, they get the preponderance of their campaign funding from outside their home states, and so they act as they do. Gotta keep that money flowing in!

Note that I am not saying it's a good thing. But, since the 17th Amendment and the direct election of Senators had the unintended consequence that they could broaden their support base and not be so beholden to their home states as when they were appointed by State Legislatures, this should be expected. If you want US Seantors who do the will of their states, you're going to have to see the repeal of the 17th. Good luck to you.

I would become concerned for the process when relatively unknown Democratic Senators such as Herb Kohl, Barbara Mikulski or Ron Wyden (Quick! Name their states!) start making loud noises merely on the basis of opposition for its own sake.

As for scandal... When I think of scandal, I think of both Democrats and Republicans. The current focus on Republicans has done little to diminish the memory of corrupt Democrats, both here in Indiana and nationally. 'Well done' to the finger-pointers in both parties. You've convinced me completely.

Its still too early to predict who is going to control the House and Senate in 2006. When I get around to it, I'll look up who in the Senate is retiring or seeking reelection next year.

I gave second thought to the idea of scandal. You know, when I think of scandal, I also think of the UN. Didn't want to withhold 'credit' from that august institution.
